Expressionism and Abstract Expressionism are styles of painting in which the artist aims to present the world solely from a subjective perpective. Rather than representing physical reality through naturalistic depiction, Expressionism seeks to distort
it radically for emotional effect in order to evoke moods or ideas, embody feelings, and express the meaning of emotional experience. In this class students will explore the visual elements that are the building blocks of composition in Vistual Art and how
they intersect. Through this reflective process students will learn how to make conscious choices utilzing media, concepts and techniques to inform and shape the development of their painting practice. Materials: A selection of drawing and painting materials
of choice to get started.
