The New Zealand Certificate in English Language (NZCEL) Level 1-4 covers all the content from Level 1, 2, 3, and 4. All four levels cover a range of speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills to enable students to communicate independently and effectively in familiar and some less familiar situations. This is in everyday and academic English language contexts. This course is ideal for students who wish to complete all four levels with the goal of pursuing further education in an English language setting. Level 1 is equivalent to CEFR high A1 - low A2 and Level 4 is equivalent to CEFR B2. Once students have completed Level 4, they are expected to have an English level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 to 6.0.
The course is divided into four components: reading, writing, listening and speaking. All four skills are taught at the same time through a variety of engaging topics.
Course Delivery:
The certificate has 240 credits and is delivered over 64 weeks with four one week breaks. Classes are schedule from Monday – Thursday (9am-2:30pm) and Friday (9am-12pm). The majority of lessons will be delivered in the classroom and include a variety
of activities such as roleplays, discussions, practical tasks, debates, presentations, writing workshops, and research. Students are also expected to complete 17 hours of independent study each week.
