This programme is skills based, experiential and focused on the discipline of observation. We shift between 2D and 3D initially to anchor the programme in material reality: when we paint landscape we are engaging with actual landforms, not photographs
of the land. So we construct our own landscapes from clay, cardboard and assemblage materials then make paintings of our constructions, learning traditional painting tactics in the process. We then progress to painting actual landscapes plein air: using the
land around the Community Centre art room and the nearby Monte Cecelia Park site. The programme is process based and embraces experimentation and adventure.
