Expand and refine your jewellery making skills whilst handcrafting a modern cabochon-style ring.  This course is not for beginners: you must have completed the introductory Jewellery Making - Beginners and Chain Making course.

Most materials included in course fee but please bring $10 in cash to pay the tutor for your gemstone. Bring pen and paper and wear clothing and footwear suitable for a workshop environment.

By the end of the workshop, you'll be able to:

  • Complete a handmade cabochon style ring
  • Create and construct a basic bezel stone setting
  • Accurately set your gemstone
  • Carry out various specialist jewellery finishing techniques

Note:  Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel. We'll let you know by email so please check yours regularly. If you need to cancel, here are our terms and conditions: "What You Need to Know".

Prerequisites

For those who have completed the "Jewellery Making 1 - Beginners" and Jewellery Making 2 - Creative Chains" courses.

Community Education courses have been delivered at Wellington High School and its antecedents since 1886. The Evening Institute was established in 1964 when Wellington Polytechnic separated from the secondary school and today is known as the Wellington High School Community Education Centre (CEC).
